Visualization: one wall, six looks across four finishes
The finishes
One studio, four ways to treat a surface.
See each finish in a room and up close. Every finish has its own page: the layers it takes, where it works and what it costs.

Venetian Plaster
Layered plaster finishes, from restrained matte texture to a refined polished surface.
Venetian plaster is a lime-based plaster applied by hand in thin trowel coats, from a matte, stone-like Marmorino to a burnished, polished surface. It suits living rooms, entries, stair halls, fireplaces and range hoods, and about 200 sq ft on a flat, prepared wall takes three to four working days.
Best for
Living rooms, entries, stair halls, fireplaces, range hoods
A velvety, hand-applied finish with subtle movement and depth.
Roman clay is a hand-troweled finish with a velvety matte surface and soft movement. It suits bedrooms, living rooms and quiet feature walls, and about 200 sq ft on a flat, prepared wall takes two working days.
Soft tonal movement for walls that respond beautifully to light.
Limewash is a mineral lime paint brushed on in overlapping strokes, so the color moves with the light through the day. It works on interior walls, exterior stucco and masonry, and about 200 sq ft on a flat, prepared wall takes one to two working days.
Best for
Great rooms, entries, bedrooms, exterior stucco and brick
Continuous surfaces that bring clarity to architectural forms.
Microcement is a thin cement-based coating applied in layers to create one seamless surface across walls, floors, showers and vanities, often over existing tile. About 200 sq ft on a flat, prepared surface takes four to six working days, because each layer needs time to cure.
Rooms are visualizations until our own projects are photographed. Days are for about 200 sq ft on a flat, prepared surface; walls that need repair take longer. See every finish in the gallery.
Accent projects
Sometimes one element changes the whole room.
A fireplace, a range hood or a single niche is often the best place to start. Projects start at $1,800.
A starting point, not a verdict. We confirm the finish at the visit, in your light.
How we work
Six steps, agreed in writing.
How does the light move through your room? How much texture feels right? How will the surface be used? We work through these questions with you, then confirm the direction with a sample before application begins.
Project conversation
Send your city, a few photos, the surface and an approximate size. We reply with first thoughts and a time to visit.
On-site consultation
Free of charge. We look at the light, the surfaces and how the room is used, measure, and talk through finish options.
Written estimate
Scope, preparation, the finish system, timeline and price, itemized. Nothing starts until you approve it.
Custom sample
Once the estimate is approved, we make a sample in your color, texture and sheen, and you approve it in your own light.
Application
The room is protected, the substrate prepared, and the finish applied by hand, layer by layer, on the agreed schedule.
Final review and care
We walk the finished surface with you and leave care notes for the material applied.
Prices updated October 2026. Projects start at $1,800. Ranges include the finish system, protection of the room and cleanup. Days are for about 200 sq ft on a flat, prepared surface.
For designers
A considered finish, from sample to surface.
We collaborate with interior designers and project teams to refine finish direction, review substrate requirements and document agreed details.
How much do plaster finishes cost per square foot?
Typical ranges are $10–16 per sq ft for limewash, $14–20 for Roman clay, $16–22 for Venetian plaster in Marmorino or polished, $18–24 for Travertino and $35–50 for microcement. Your written estimate depends on the surface, height, color and the finish system.
Which finish is best for a bathroom?
For showers and wet floors, microcement with its full waterproofing and sealer system. For powder rooms and walls away from direct water, Venetian plaster or Roman clay with a protective finish. Limewash is best kept away from splashes.
How long does a project take?
For about 200 sq ft on a flat, prepared surface: limewash takes one to two working days, Roman clay two, Venetian plaster three to four and microcement four to six, because each layer needs time to set. Walls that need repair take longer. Your estimate includes the schedule.
Will my wall look exactly like the sample?
Samples help establish the color, texture and level of movement for your space. Hand-applied surfaces vary across a wall, and we agree on the acceptable range of variation before we begin.
How do I clean it?
Dust with a soft cloth and wipe marks with a damp cloth and mild soap where the finish is sealed. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh cleaners. You receive care notes for your specific finish.
